Serendipity

It is a powerful moment when you meet someone that is doing exactly what they are meant to be doing. In this moment it takes less than seconds to see how a person pours all of their passion and intention into their work without question. You can see their effort rooted in genuine care and consideration. I cannot count the amount of times this moment has occurred on our trip; however, there is one person I would like to specifically recognize from a while back.

When Jeannè's knee pain reached a debilitating level, we were halted with lots of questions. Solemnly we contemplated whether or not she would be able to continue. The main alternative would have left Eric and myself to complete the trip, a potentially disastrous and life threatening situation. Several questions hung heavy in the air and we all felt the weight of what was on the line.

The following day Jeanné and I went to the local walk-in clinic looking for answers. Little did we know we were about to meet the angel of the day Dr. Mindy. Her bright blue eyes and vibrant presence were a breath of fresh air. She got right down to business, asking about our trip and all about Jeanné's injury. Within 15 minutes she had powerfully joined our mission to reach Oregon, given us a straightforward diagnosis and put us back on track. Although it would be a gradual and painful ease back into the daily demand of a bicycle tour, we knew what we were dealing with and how to move forward. Receiving the quality healthcare attention that we did was tremendously critical to Jeanné's progress and that of the entire group. Thank you Mindy for being a major support and one of the many that have gotten us thus far on the trip, to include the accomplishment of our first century ride on LOADED touring bikes yesterday!
