July 25th, After a lazy morning
in Pueblo, we left town only to be hit hard by heavy rain. Josh left us to hike
Pike's Peak but we hope to meet with him in a few days. Once out of town, the
skies opened up and instead we saw the storms from afar. It's a beautiful sight
to see: lightning strikes miles away, watching the rain fall but staying dry. Steady uphill climbs... kind of nice after so much flat. Rain prevented us from making further
progress as we hunkered down in Canon City, Colorado. We met a solo cyclist,
Myriam, from Holland, going East. It's always fun to chat with fellow
cyclists.
Shaun's last night
with us meant for some funny reminiscing and cross-eyed pictures. We've riding with him since Farmington, MO, which he told us was 1250 miles. It's going to
be strange adjusting back to just the Virginia crew.
